Here I attempt to beat Contra ReBirth on the hardest difficulty it has to offer! Btw, if you love Contra games, don't hesitate to pick this up off of WiiWare! It's definitely one of the best in the series. Keep reading to know my opinion on the game. Rival's Review: Story - This is definitely one of the weak parts of the game. Now, while Contra games don't necessarily have a great story to tell, this one takes the cake of being the most hilariously campy one of them all. It is told through still cutscenes that hardly make much sense as to what is currently going on while playing. Not to mention that some of the dialouge is cheesy to read. Presentation - It is clearly apparent that Konami wanted to have Contra ReBirth look like a 16-bit game, and it succeeds in that area. However, a lot of the environments in the game look rather bland and devoid of a lot of personality which can hurt the overall visual punch--with the exception of the last two levels which manage to pick up a bit in terms of art style luckily. When it comes to animation, Contra ReBirth does succeed in having multiple explosions and having most of the enemies animate fluidly. Overall, the graphics do their job decently even if some levels end up looking a bit bland. Sound - The music is a blast to listen to. A lot of tracks will sound familiar to the veteran Contra player and the music has a serious techno-like feel to it... which is perfect for the retro feel it attempts to create. Sound effects are ...
